DIAGRAMMATIC ABSTRACTION

This project requiring skills to identify famous architect and analyse their respective works on how they design building and to learn how they relate their concept and design style into their designed building.

ANALYSIS DIAGRAM

To more deeply understanding about the concept of the Solar Umbrella House designed by Lawrence Scarpa and his wife, Brooks, me and my groupmates in a group of 5 are required to build a concept model of the house.

THE SOLAR UMBRELLA HOUSE

Lawrence Scarpa and his wife, Angela Brooks

Refer to the Solar Umbrella House,The Solar Umbrella House isa private residence in Venice, California, remodeled using active and passive solar design strategies to enable the house to function independent of the electrical grid.

The design was inspired by Paul Rudolph’s Umbrella House and Heyward Apartments of 1953. Originally a small 650 sq ft (60 m2) bungalow, the owners added 1,150 sq ft (107 m2) in 2005, remodeling it in such a way that the house is almost 100% energy neutral.

PROJECT 2b: TEA FOR TWO

Edited video briefly talking about the life of Lawrence Scarpa and Angela Brooks and also concentrate on the study of Scarpa 's design style and his noticeable winning awards works.

In a group of two, me and my dearest group member began with a volume in the form of a solid cube 3 x 3x 3 meter to design a tea pavilion based on the turkish tea culture that we selected. Inspired by the dandelion that spoted large number on the site ,Cameron Highlands, lightness and transparency became the concepts of this tea pavilion.

Not to forget the turkish tea culture, the space of this tea pavilion is designed based on the lifestyle of Turkish people and the process of how they make tea and enjoy tea.

Bharat Plantation,

Cameron Highlands.

The structure of the tea pavilion is using light material and have the benefit of foldable which promotes mechanism inspired by umbrella. Besides, the tea pavilion can be easily installed for its portable and light material .

PROJECT 2c: TEA HOUSE

TURKISH TEA CULTURE

This project has given me the chance to research and look in more deeply about Turkish tea culture.

Turkish people have their own unique way on having tea .They love drinking black tea while playing Backgammon( board game) with good views.

As the top tea consume country of the world, Turkish have special tea preparation due to their tea culture.

Unique double decker tea kettle, with dense tea on top and boiled water at the bottom of the kettle, turkish people can control the volume of the tea and the amount of the water.

Continuing of the previous project, dandelion as the main concept of the tea house.

MODEL PERSPECTIVE VIEW

Rotatable glass panel of the tea house's surface promoting lightness and to get the users close to nature without stepping out from the house.

Rotatable walls allow users to decide their desired space by shifting the wall manually. This idea is derieved from the Turkish unique tea kettle which also allows them to determine the density of their tea.

Nice view as the main reason of choosing the site.
